19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev won his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has had a difficult season, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in particular - led to him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Now working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial title after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court after March of 2023.

Victory also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct events.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my children simultaneously, so to get a title is particularly special," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, comprising in that event previously this season.

His counter-punching play style and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted some to wonder if his skill to play at the highest level was over.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, attempting to advance forward and play positively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the final five games to take the lead.

Both players traded service breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his first professional championship, took control to push for a decider.

He saved 4 early-game break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev broke to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner earned the title with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
